3.30.07 – a few things i couldn’t live without
there are a few programs that, when using another mac, make me think the computer is broken because it does not have them. most of them are free. one of them isn’t. but hey, there’s always piracy.
1. Quicksilver (free)
-in general, it’s an ‘app launcher’. for me, it’s the core of my computer. a quick keystroke will open any bookmark or program.
2. Uno (free)
-it makes all your OS X programs look the same (mail, safari, firefox, itunes, preview, finder, etc..), evening out the pinstripe/brushed metal/aqua windows. smooth.
3. Afloat (free)
-it lets you make any window transparent (as much or as little as you want) and/or stay floating.
4. Synergy (steal it, but really it’s like $5)
-because going down to the dock, clicking on itunes and changing tracks takes too much work. it also syncs with audioscrobbler/last.fm to keep track of your listening habits, allowing you to make nice little charts like this:

this is the 3rd podcast i put up at mypodcast.com. I’m trying to host from mediafire, see how it goes, so here goes…
EDIT: i don’t really like how mediafire hosts, so if you have other suggestions, let me know.

-a single from the new album “Neon Bible”.
2. The Books – Motherless Bastard
-I often listen to the books while studying. This is a nice song.
3. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah – Satan Said Dance
-A great song from the new CYHSY album “Some Loud Thunder”
4. M. Ward – I’ll Be Yr Bird
-M. Ward is great. I will push him on you until you fold.
5. Ratatat – Nostrand
-my favorite ratatat song.
6. Tapes ‘n Tapes – Insistor
-these guys are from MN and blew up over the summer. They were the subject of a rather funny short film about indie marketing. Watch it here:

7. Wilco – Either Way
-the opening off track off “Sky Blue Sky”, due out in May. Yay!
3.29.07 – the first post
Eventually, this will host my blog and podcast, which is currently at alphabeticalorder.mypodcast.com . I don’t really like how it’s set up over there, but I haven’t quite figured out how to work this whole wordpress deal yet either. And, having a wordpress blog is way hipper. My blog/podcast might be plagiarized or contain very similar content to those blogs listed in my blogroll. If you can even see my blogroll. Why? Because I don’t do anything to find original bands. I just look at other peoples blogs.
